This advanced practice webinar is a must for Governance Professionals – those serving on Boards, Board Chairs, Board Committee Chairs, CEOs, and Board Consultants and Coaches, and Academics.

The session addresses the challenge that a Board can have an excellent technical system or approach to governance and still not achieve governance excellence.  The people factor related to Board culture and Board leadership behaviours can significantly influence any Board’s success.

Governing Boards are made up of a cast of people.  People demonstrate different levels of, beliefs about, and competencies in leadership behaviours which are shaped by people’s leader character.

This advanced practice webinar will address the following:

  • The essential Board job products inspired by Policy GovernanceÒ and their connection to Board culture.
  • What is Board leader character?
    • What does the research demonstrate are critical dimensions of Board leader character?
    • How does this relate to your own leadership behaviour?

Note:  You will have the opportunity prior to the session to complete an independent assessment of your own leader character to use as input to this discussion. More information on this opportunity to follow.

  • Discussion on how a better understanding of leader character can help Board leaders plan for and support the building of Board leader character potentially enabling more ethical, generative, and prudent Board process and collaboration.
  • A brief case study will be discussed to observe both the presence and absence of Board leader character and to share practical approaches to including thinking about Board leader character in your Board’s approach.
